Story behind "Introvert"

This is a song I wrote for fun, which has turned into a crowd favorite.  I’ve had multiple people request that I record it, so I did! (If you want it, visit www.stefaniepotter.com to let me know where to send it.)I’m an introvert by nature, who somehow ended up in very extroverted fields of social work, ministry, and music performance.  I love people, but they also exhaust me!  :-POver the years, I’ve noticed a trend of misunderstanding me…She must be shy.  I’m going to make it my mission to break her out of her shell!(I don’t feel the need to talk to everyone, but I’m open to talking to those who want to!) Is she weird?(Definitely. But who isn’t?) It’s the quiet ones you have to watch out for… they’re sneaky. (I promise I don’t have some secret ulterior motive… I just listen well!) Is she lonely or bored because she’s alone?(I’m occasionally lonely if it’s been a while since I’ve connected with close friends, but I’m totally fine not talking to a bunch of strangers or acquaintances!  My thought life and independent projects generally keep me from ever feeling bored.) Is she not talking because she doesn’t understand?(I know I’m intelligent, but since people have totally different backgrounds and experiences, I don’t always feel the need to share my knowledge or opinion, because it would take a while to backtrack to address all the assumptions implied in opinions.  [I studied philosophy in college... I also hate debates…]  If I want to share, I like to process my thoughts first so I can explain myself clearly.) I know some friends could relate to these feelings, so I wrote a song to help clear things up for this half of the population!I do LOVE my extrovert friends as well! They’re great at keeping a conversation going. ;)
