Story Behind "Say Go"

Have you ever felt like you were supposed to do something that seemed crazy at first? My song "Say Go" (concert version, BalconyTV version, download available here) was inspired first and foremost by my entrance into music in 2002.  I was a sophomore in high school when I heard my first rock band that allowed their whole life, including their faith perspective, to influence their songwriting. (They didn't "beat people over the head" with their perspectives, but they were simply honest about who they were.) I felt so inspired by them, that I had a conversation with my friend that went something like the following:Me: "Hey, you write poems. Wanna start a band?"Friend: "Sure!"I had grown up playing guitar in church with my dad, but I definitely wasn't "skilled" by any means.  (You know that kid at the campfire that plays about 4 chords?)  My friend decided to learn how to play bass, and we recruited my sister to learn drums.  I started studying how to write music,  and I was really bad at it... like a "good try" kind of bad.But somehow, by the grace and purposes of God, we got booked to play shows; a lot of them!  We were playing out about once a month and improving along the way.  But the coolest part was, even when we were obviously beginners, people were still inspired by the music. This 8-year band adventure taught me that God doesn't necessarily call the qualified, but rather, He is in the business of qualifying the called.  Now, I'm looking forward to many more adventures as an acoustic artist.  I know that my music has a purpose... to entertain and speak to the heart, as I'm honest about who I am: a girl who wants to inspire people to hold onto hope, and to have compassion for themselves and others. What are you feeling led to do? Don't be afraid to step out in faith! :)PS: I thought it would be fun to share my old band's music!  Enough Said rocked upstate NY between about 2002-2010.  You can hear the improvement and change in sound with each CD, from "Enough Said" to "One" to "Midnight's Apex."  Here are the band's old songs on MySpace!
