Why do I love electric guitar? Because inside this introverted shell, there’s a roaring prophetic battle cry to set people free.Worship leadingAs worship leaders, we are keepers of the sounds of God. It's our job to express those sounds to the congregation in ways they can understand and experience what God is saying.  There are lots of ways to express worship to, and display the glory of, God through the sounds created on electric… let’s talk about how we get there.

Metaphors from a Pedal Board: Finding our Voiceblog6a

blog8Tuner: First things first... we need to be in-tune. In tune with the music and in tune with the Spirit. If not, everything else we do will come out sounding ugly.Volume pedal is our voice. When there’s not a lot of noise, we can turn down to a whisper so people lean in to hear the secrets to freedom. When I want to add beauty, I’ll gently swell in and add my part to the background. When joining with lots of other players, I turn it up to play my part, nice and loud for the people in the back.To me, volume pedal tells God I’m listening… or that I’m ready to speak.blog6Delay is repeating ourselves. Sometimes we need to say things a few extra times for the importance of it to be taken in by the listener. To me, delay tells God how beautiful He is, and how adventurous life is with Him.blog3Reverb is singing… or sweet talkin’. It’s a sweet tone that opens the message up wide and beautiful for all to hear. It makes us full. It feels good.To me, reverb tells God how big He is, and how full life is with Him.blog3aOverdrive is yellin’ a bit. It adds some grit and some punch to what we’re saying. So you know we really mean it.To me, overdrive tells God how powerful He is, and how much stronger I become in my dependence on Him.blog3bOctaver is getting a few friends to say the same thing at the same time. Maybe that way you’ll hear at least one of the voices! To me, octaver tells God how loving He is, and how grateful I am that He hears each of our voices. Now, we pick out the tone of voice to say what we gotta say. God’s listening.blog4blog5They all play a part in displaying the glory of God. So do we. Are you displaying your role clearly?
