Vision - Artist of the Heart

When I first started as a musician in Charleston, I thought I was meant to focus on inspiring and encouraging the Church to be who God made us to be: full of hope and compassion.  While I have done some of that, the journey has proven different: a broader vision than I assumed. When my vision was only for the church, it was easy to define what I do: basically, music that is different than the worship team provides. But then I found myself playing a wide range of cafes, bars, restaurants, and community events... trying to define and explain my music in ways people will understand.  After an interview, I realized that the intentionality of my artistry is incredibly unique.  While many artists share occasional heartfelt songs about "the big stuff" of life that matters most, that's pretty much all I do.  I love to write music that inspires positive change, internally (redemption/restoration of who God made us) or externally (redemption/restoration of the world around us, through us).  The more I write, the more I realize that this stuff applies to everyone.  Not just the Church.  God wants every person to have their hope restored.  God wants every person to extend compassion to others. That's what I want too. That's where "artist of the heart" as my description came from.SP_banner-2

And I entertain and have fun while I'm at it... because that connection we build through it is priceless. :)I had my dear friend Leah Giorlando design an image that expresses this desire without words.  I wanted people to see the image, and understand my music. Leah is a skilled prophetic artist and graphic designer, and just so happens to have used hearts a lot in her work.  I wanted it to include a real heart, since my songs come from the real depths of being human.  So I knew Leah was the right person for the job, and she did not disappoint! <3Along with the banner, I also ordered some super-cozy-soft shirts and I handmade {with love} some necklaces ("folk" and "soul" versions).  Besides being fun creative projects, I'm hoping to use the proceeds from these items to help me record my next CD! (It's expensive ya'll! ;)  Now that Shifting Winds has gotten into the avenues I hoped, I am ready to share my new "heart songs" with the world.  There are a lot of meaningful and important messages, and I hope to get creative with the music production on the next CD.  More on that later... :)
