Vision - Artist of the Heart
When I first started as a musician in Charleston, I thought I was meant to focus on inspiring and encouraging the Church to be who God made us to be: full of hope and compassion. While I have done some of that, the journey has proven different: a broader vision than I assumed. When my vision was only for the church, it was easy to define what I do: basically, music that is different than the worship team provides. But then I found myself playing a wide range of cafes, bars, restaurants, and community events... trying to define and explain my music in ways people will understand. After an interview, I realized that the intentionality of my artistry is incredibly unique. While many artists share occasional heartfelt songs about "the big stuff" of life that matters most, that's pretty much all I do. I love to write music that inspires positive change, internally (redemption/restoration of who God made us) or externally (redemption/restoration of the world around us, through us). The more I write, the more I realize that this stuff applies to everyone. Not just the Church. God wants every person to have their hope restored. God wants every person to extend compassion to others. That's what I want too. That's where "artist of the heart" as my description came from.
