Story behind "Where I Belong"

Have you ever not known where your life was going?I've been at that point multiple times: I lived in three different states within about three years, and have changed career paths a few times too.   Having an uncertain future is a hard thing to go through; it comes with a rollercoaster of emotions, as you fight for hope amidst uncertainty. When I was deep into one of these times, I was inspired to write the song "Where I Belong" (Video, Concert, available for download, on my EP "Shifting Winds"). My boyfriend of almost 4 years (now husband) was moving across the country for graduate school; I wanted to go with him, but would not uproot my life to follow him unless we solidified our commitment to each other through marriage. But he was nervous about it, as he would be going to school and unable to work full time to provide for me if I didn't get a job during that time.  "Where I Belong" was my reminder to myself to choose faith as I waited for him to decide, instead of worry. As I gave control over to God, I found that He came through.  These are just a taste of my experiences:

  • God encouraged my husband to step out in faith to marry me when we had no income and no idea what would happen in a new place.
  • God provided financially when I went 8 months without a job.
  • God provided a tight-knit church family when I moved away from my blood family for the first time.
  • God led my husband and me to just the right jobs for us, in the right time.
Through it all, I learned by experience that we can trust our unknown future to a known God.  He doesn't show us the whole plan, so we will just walk with Him in each step.  He provides what we need to serve where we’re at.I hope you're encouraged by my song and story. :)
